My Philosophy of Education:
The purpose of special education is to give the student with special needs an equal opportunity to learn, to give the student hope for a successful future and to provide them with the skills to achieve their goals in life. Individuals of any age with special needs are an important part of our society. In order for them to become productive citizens, we must educate them and accommodate their every need.
My sincere passion and goal as an educator is to influence my students enough to make a positive impact in their lives. I want to instill in my students that they are unique and with that uniqueness, they should have the confidence to do or become anything they want in this world. Just as a regular education teacher, the special educator encourages learning and provides skills to be able to function in society. I want my students to reach their highest potential. All students can learn under the appropriate conditions. I make certain that learning takes place in the least restrictive environment, addressing all possible learning styles and with high expectations. If I can provide the appropriate conditions all of my students will learn.
My role is to advocate for my students to make sure that they receive a fair shot at the education they deserve. I teach a variety of skills necessary for progress in the direction of success. The student's role is to be present and participate in an effort to learn everything their peers are learning. In their participation of games, oral reports, listening, small groups, and hands on activities; they are taking advantage of the opportunity to an appropriate education that meets all of their needs.
