Welcome Mr. Sanders, Our New Principal

Dear Parents and Families of Hallett Fundamental Academy,

My name is Jason Sanders and it is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as the incoming principal for the 2015-2016 school year!

I am originally from Seattle, WA (Go Seahawks!) and attended Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA (Go Zags!). I worked in Spokane with homeless and runaway teenagers for 2 years and then made the decision to move to Denver … almost 13 years ago. Since moving to Denver, I have continued my work with youth in various capacities: volunteer, counselor, interventionist, special education teacher and as the Assistant Principal at Hallett and, currently, at Marie L. Greenwood Academy (1st-8th) in Montbello.

This will be my third stint at Hallett and I couldn’t be more proud and excited! I am 100% committed to the ongoing success of this school’s community. Further, it is my goal to continue the momentum that Mrs. Keeton has built alongside families, teachers, staff members and community partners: a culture of high academic expectations, culturally responsive teaching and the vision that all of our kids will be prepared for college and/or career.

I look forward to introducing myself to you, in person (or re-introducing myself, in many cases). After Spring Break, I will attempt to spend as much time, as I can, re-familiarizing myself with the Hallett community (while balancing my responsibilities at my current school). We will also be holding a meet and greet in the near future so please be on the lookout for information about dates and times.

Once again, I could not be more thrilled to begin my work alongside all of you!

Jason Sanders

Con”grant”ulations!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Kimble and Mrs. Allaire for receiving grants this week!
Mrs. Kimble won a Target in Education grant to take the 4th grade on a field trip to the Wing Over Rockies Air and Space Museum and Mrs. Allaire won a DonorsChoose grant for books for the classroom library!

Thank you both for your dedication to our students!!!

2nd Graders Are Whispering!

Congratulations Ms. Muhammad! She was recently awarded a community partnership grant from Westerra Credit Union to purchase a RedCat Sound System.  This system allows her to amplify her voice so all students can hear. Even better: the students are using the sound system when they share their thinking in literacy and math! It’s really powerful!
